Countdown to the Irish Superprix

Banbury, UK, Friday 21st June 2002: Around 18 cars from the world of F1, Indy and F3000 will line-up at Mondello Park on Sunday 30th May for the start of the 6th Irish Superprix, round three of Europe's fastest single seater formula-- the NDS EuroBOSS Series.

It is a rare opportunity to see so many of the worlds fastest racing machines in action on Irish soil and, with an open paddock and relaxed atmosphere throughout the race weekend, spectators will be able to admire the powerful machines at close quarters and feel the power of these awesome engines as they' blast off' around the circuit.

Competing cars include classic names such as Arrows, Jordan, Tyrell, Benetton, Reynard, Footwork and Minardi, many having played a part in shaping the history of Grand Prix racing.

Leading the Irish challenge is Noel McIntyre, driving an Irish green Reynard in striking' 7 Up' livery. Noel, in his second EuroBOSS season, will be looking to improve upon his sixth place finish at last month's Brands Hatch round as he takes to the track in front of his home crowd. Currently topping the NDS EuroBOSS driver standings is Phil Andrews, from Birmingham, UK, who will be looking for a hat-trick of victories after taking the chequered flag at Donington Park and Brands Hatch in his Ascari Judd V10.

It promises excitement all the way with overtaking guaranteed and there's every likelihood that the Mondello Park lap record will be broken in the process-- drivers in the EuroBOSS formula currently hold 15 outright lap records at circuits across Europe!

NDS EuroBOSS is the feature event at this action-packed weekend of racing, which also includes demonstration laps by the 1995 V12 Ferrari formerly driven by Jean Alesi. On Saturday the public will have the chance to enjoy three afternoon test sessions. Qualifying takes place on Sunday at 11.00am and, with grid positions decided, the 6th Irish Superprix powers-off at 3.30pm.
