Cooper Tire Championship Series announces the Cooper Gold Cup.
St. Petersburg, Fla, March 2, 2005 - The American Continental Championship has evolved to become the Cooper Gold Cup Series.
Brad Baytos, principle of the race series describes the Cooper Gold Cup "as being one of the most competitive series for driver development." He added that he would like to thank Cooper Tire for their belief in the series and for putting their name to it.
The drivers in this series, listed at the end of this column, will certainly have a fantastic grand prize to compete for. In the spirit of "Enter. Race. Graduate." the series can boast an exceptional motivation to cross the finish line ahead of the pack. The winner of the Cooper Gold Cup will be given a test opportunity in a Ford Powered Multi Matic Daytona Prototype race car. These prototype cars are part of the Grand Am Rolex Series.
Drivers entered in the Cooper Gold Cup series are Doug Kniffin, Bill Jordan, Dan Bruggermann, Paul Riffel, Browning Williams, Darren Brown, Glennon Reidler, Brian Cleary, John Miller, Mike Wettstein, Brian Tomasi, Mike Sauce, Jerry Brogdon, Peter Harholt, Mark Defer, Barry Haynie and Jason Green.
