Ferrari junior Lance Stroll wins New Zealand Grand Prix
Canadian youngster seals Toyota Racing Series title with fourth win of the year to start season in style.
Ferrari protégé Lance Stroll won the 60th New Zealand Grand Prix at Manfeild on Sunday to secure the Toyota Racing Series title by 108 points.
The 16-year-old Canadian, who is a part of the Ferrari Driver Academy system and won last year’s Italian Formula Four title, prevailed after his M2 Competition team-mates Arjun Maini and Brandon Maisano clashed.
That incident allowed him to nip ahead of both and claim his fourth victory of the TRS season.
Stroll, who will move up to the FIA European Formula Three Championship with Prema Powerteam later this year, won the series that has been previously contested by Formula One racer Daniil Kvyat, GP2 star Mitch Evans (who won the title in 2011) and GP3 champion Alex Lynn.
