FF3: Phil Giebler scores first victory

1998 Skip Barber Karting Scholarship winner Phil Giebler scored his first victory in the French Formula 3 series at Nogaro, France earlier this week. In addition to victory, Giebler captured the poles for both race 1 and 2 of the first event in the French F3 series.

Race 1 ended prematurely for the young American as he fell victim to a crowded and sodden racetrack racing in the “B” class. The following day’s second race proved to be fortuitous for Giebler as he earned his victory in spite of a tangle with an “A” class car that damaged his front wing.

This is not Giebler’s first foray into the French racing scene as he competed in the French ELF La Filliere series with fellow Skip Barber Karting Scholarship and Race Series competitor, Patrick Long. Long is presently racing in Europe as well in the British Slick 50 Formula Ford Series.

The next event for Giebler will be held at site of the FIA French Grand Prix, Circuit Magny Cours, on May 7.
