NRC Racing Drivers 4th & 6th After Clipsal 500 Practice Sessions

April 6, 2001 - NRC Racing Formula Holden drivers Stewart McColl and Emerson Newton-John have set the 4th and 6th fastest lap times in fine and very warm conditions during practice for Saturday and Sunday's races that make up Round Two of the 2001 Holden Australian Drivers' Championship.

Both drivers improved their lap times substantially from those set during the morning practice session, but the rookies experienced a number of handling problems that would prove to be a major set back in the team's attempts to have both cars represented at the top of the timesheets.

Double Formula Holden Champion Simon Wills dominated both sessions in a one-off return to the series, upping the ante for any team to try and take pole position from him during qualifying tomorrow, (Saturday April 7) at 8:50am.

Stewart McColl - " I am very disappointed with the second session - I thought that I would have been closer to the top times. We need more laps and I am sure that with the overnight changes that we will be making, the NRC Racing / Motorola Formula Holden will be much quicker tomorrow."

Emerson Newton-John - "I am seriously disappointed with both sessions today - I am a bit puzzled as to why we are not fast enough here in Adelaide. I know that there are a few changes that both I and the team can make that will give the car a better balance for this demanding street circuit." <pre> Friday Practice Session Two - 3:30pm - Fine and warm (Top six lap times)
