FNIPPON: Alex Yoong Fuji testing 2000-04-28

ALEX 10th AND ONLY 0.9 sec OFF FASTEST

Team Malaysia's Alex claimed the 10th fastest time at the end of two x two hour official test at day one in the Fuji Speedway today.

He had closed up on the fastest car compared to previous outings.

Alex was only 0.9 sec. off the fastest time set by Tachikawa in the 4.4km Fuji Speedway today.

"I am happy we are now closing up on the pace. At Suzuka, I was 2.8 seconds off the pace, had it reduced to 1.3 seconds in Motegi, and now with only less than a second to go I am confident of scoring points in races before too long." said Alex.

Alex who arrived at the circuit only yesterday from the British Grand Prix had caught a terrible cold from UK. Considering too that it's his first visit to Fuji Speedway, it was an impressive performance from Alex.

"My fever is gone but I'm finding it difficult to breath at the high Gs corners. I'm going to have a good rest tonight and hope to be more fit tomorrow. I feel there's another half a second in me to close up on tomorrow." added Alex.

Team-mates Noda and Igarashi were 6th and 14th respectively.

There will be another 2 sessions of 2 hours each tomorrow, 29th April 2000.
