FPA 'SHOOT-OUT' FINELY POISED FOR BRATT AFTER QUALIFYING

Will Bratt heads into the final three races of the 2007 Visma Formula Palmer Audi Autumn Trophy at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk tomorrow knowing a coveted place in this year's McLaren Autosport BRDC Award is there for the taking.

Not only will the trio of encounters prove decisive in the destiny of the Autumn Trophy title, more importantly the highest points scorer from Sunday's three rounds of action will go forward as the sixth finalist for the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Award.

Will looked to have made the perfect start today after scorching to pole position in the first of the three qualifying sessions with a lap of 1m 04.368 seconds. However, this was frustratingly taken away by race officials who deemed the BRDC Rising Star's time to have been set as yellow flags were being shown at the Bomb Hole.

His second quickest time, therefore, was a lap of 1m 04.570 seconds (108.82mph) placing him second on the grid for the first of tomorrow's races, still only 0.073 seconds shy of the eventual pole time.

During the qualifying period for race two, the Banbury ace ended the session with the fifth best time of 1m 04.973 seconds (108.15mph), just 0.160 seconds off pole. Will did think the top spot on the grid was to be his again but on his quickest lap red flags were shown. At the re-start, he wasn't able to find any space which compromised the remainder of his session.

In race three qualifying, some changes to Will's car failed to reap rewards and the resulting issues with understeer meant he was only able to post the seventh best time with a lap of 1m 05.103 seconds (107.93mph). Nonetheless, with his major rivals all experiencing similar up-and-down sessions, Will remains confident he has the pace and ability to win through.

"It was annoying to have our pole time taken away from the first session but we're still on the front row for that race and I'm confident we'll have good race pace tomorrow", commented Will at the conclusion of qualifying, "I've no doubt we'd have been on the front row again in session two but after the red flags I just wasn't able to get a clear lap.

"The third qualifying was certainly our least impressive, we decided to try something different but it didn't work out. Hopefully it won't be too much of a problem though if we can make a good start and get away with the leaders. Our tyres are in good shape and I'm confident we should be able to do a good job tomorrow."

Race four of the 2007 Visma Formula Palmer Audi Autumn Trophy is scheduled to begin at 10.00 tomorrow, Sunday, 4th November, with the fifth and sixth races of the series set to follow at 12.05 and 14.15 respectively. Remember, all three races carry increased importance as they will count toward the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award 'shoot-out'. Will is currently sixth overall in the FPA Autumn Trophy standings.
