CRACKER OF A FIRST WIN FOR JACK CLARKE
Bridgman leads by 21 points

Jack Clarke took his maiden Formula Palmer Audi win in Round 11 of the championship at Brands Hatch, as Tim Bridgman finished second to extend his lead to 20 points.

Starting second behind Bridgman, Clarke maintained the pressure early on before making the decisive move for the lead on lap six of 30. The 19-year-old was delighted to have finally secured his first car racing victory, as well as move up into joint fourth place in the championship standings.

"I'm really happy to have done it!" said Clarke. "Everything went to plan, everything was perfect and I've finished on the podium in all three races this weekend, which makes up for a difficult start to the year."

Bridgman was unable to keep up with the blue and gold machine of Clarke, but was happy to take second and stretch his new-found points lead after finding his mirrors full of third-placed Jason Moore late on.

"I know I wanted to take three wins from the weekend, but I came here two points behind and I'm leaving 20 ahead so I can't really complain. It's been a really signinficant weekend now, and I'm happy that I've put myself in the driving seat as we enter the second half of the season."

Third-placed Moore secured his second podium of the day, and was ecstatic to have made progress in the championship after struggling in recent rounds. "It's been a much better run for me, two podiums is a great return and we're getting towards where we want to be. I'm hoping to win before the end of the year and I don't think I'm too far away from that now."

Fourth went to Jolyon Palmer, who withstood a robust late-race challenge from Tom Bradshaw which put the latter in the gravel and dropped him to ninth. Stefan Wilson took fifth, finally passing Alex Brundle on the final lap, with Luciano Bacheta and Matt Hamilton in seventh and eighth. Chris Chubb completed the top 10.
