The field for the 2007 Formula Palmer Audi Championship has been further boosted by the addition of ex-Formula BMW racer Matt Hamilton to the grid.

Hertfordshire-based Hamilton, 17, joins fellow teenager Jack Clarke in moving from the BMW series into the 300bhp turbocharged FPA single-seater for 2007. Matt has been one of the leading lights in pre-season testing thus far, and is confident of his chances with the season now just a month away.

"I've been really happy with the testing at Bedford so far," said Matt, who took fifth in the FBMW Rookie Cup last year in what was his debut season of car racing. "But this championship is shaping up to be so competitive, there really isn't going to be any hiding place. I'll have to be at the very top of my game to win the championship."

Hamilton is thrilled by the prospect of being able to take the FPA car to some of the most famous and challenging circuits in the UK. "The long Oulton Park circuit is one of the most enoyable circuits there is, so I'm really looking forward to heading up there in August."

The 20-race FPA season kicks off one month from today (Easter Saturday, 7 April) at Silverstone, before heading to Brands Hatch three weeks later, supporting the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport final.
