Nick de Bruijn unlucky again

OSCHERSLEBEN, 26 August 2007 -- What seemed to be an fantastic weekend, ended in disappointment. Nick de Bruijn again suffered from problems with his International Formula Master car on Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The speed was actually there in the test and training sessions but the twenty year-old from Vlaardingen experienced engine problems in qualifying and the races.

The three hour test on Friday morning was completed with satisfaction. A fourth time was encouraging for de Bruijn, who has had many problems so far this season. The ISR driver went even faster and achieved a better time in the first practice.

De Bruijn could not wait until qualifying began on Saturday morning. Unfortunately a top ten position was not attainable, as the Dutchman qualified fourteenth. Fighting as hard as he could, he drove to the eleventh place in the first race but could not gain more places as the gaps between drivers was huge.

Despite engine problems, de Bruijn managed to keep up with the fastest drivers of the race. Driving in ninth position, he could smell the points. However, the guy in front of him braked hard very suddenly and de Bruijn could not avoid a collision. His front wing was severely damaged and he was forced to retire.

Nick de Bruijn: "The speed was there this weekend but we suffered engine problems. The engine did not work well and there was nothing I could do, every lap losing about sixty meters on the straight. I could manage to keep up with the guys in front of me but another driver braked hard suddenly and I could not avoid a collision. My front wing was badly damaged and I had to retire. Very disappointing but I hope the luck is finally on my side in Brands Hatch."
