Tomas looks back to an exciting debut year in Formula Master: Mission accomplished on the holy ground of Monza!

Tomas Pivoda's breakthrough in the final two race weekends of Formula Master has silenced the sceptics who thought that the jump from a kart to a 250 hp formula car would be too hard for a teenager.

"There was no better place to claim my first podiums than the famous race track in Monza", said the 17-year-old from Prerov after claiming two third place finishes on a back to back race weekend in the "temple of speed".

Racing down the long start finish straight wheel by wheel with your competitors at 260 kilometres per hour is quite a challenge and there is probably no other track that requires that combination of precision and aggressiveness.

Tomas admits that pushing a formula car to its limits is harder than expected: "It is not the high speed in particular, but the feeling for the aerodynamics in high speed corners, that makes it a little bit tricky. You need some time, to understand, that the downforce allows you to carry more speed through the corners but once you have experienced the feeling you start to enjoy it. The two race weekends in Monza, and especially the second one, gave me a big boast and a better picture of what I can expect from myself."

Track conditions are changing almost day by day, however, it is worth to mention that his qualifying time for the final rounds of Italia Formula Master was even 3 tenth quicker than Chris van der Drifts pole position time one week before. "Of course it's not a fair comparison and if I had to describe my current level of driving compared to his I am probably still at 40 percent. However, I know what I have to do during the winter and until the second half of next season I want to be competitive with the top drivers of Formula Master. Monza was just a start and I hope it will snowball from here."

Now that Tomas has claimed his first two podiums in Italia Formula Master he is now aiming for top results in the international championship: "In 2008 Formula Master will make its debut at the Grand Prix' of Hungary and Belgium, whereas another six events will be scheduled together with the FIA Touring Car World Championship. It's going to be a very competitive championship again and the best ones will be well prepared for GP2."

His preparations for 2009 will start soon, however in the next couple of weeks Tomas will intensively focus on school: "Yes, it will be necessary but it won't take long to have everything back in order again. And, of course, I will also continue with my kick boxing training."

The teenager, whose nick name could be "Professor" is eager to becoming a fighter as well, as he understands what modern motorsport requires: Precision and aggressiveness such as the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza.
