Carroll Smith Joins Russell Racing School Faculty

Sonoma, CA - Racing engineer and author Carroll Smith has joined Russell Racing School's faculty as an advisor and instructor for the Mechanics Training Program. Smith will plan and present a series of seminars on racecar preparation, suspension design and theory, aerodynamics, vehicle testing, and more to participants of the intensive 12 month course.

"I am very excited to be a part of this outstanding program," Smith said. "It gives me an opportunity to pass on some of the knowledge I've gained from my 44 years in the sport to people that will go on in motor racing. I hope to help provide the basic grounding of how things should be done so that when they graduate, they can jump in and be a productive member of a race team."

Duane Harsh, team manager for Russell Racing, believes Smith's experience and knowledge will better prepare the "MTP's" for their future careers. "His books have been a part of the package each trainee receives when they begin the program for several years now," said Harsh. "Having him here to work with the students and answer their questions in person ads a new level of training to a unique program unequaled anywhere else in motorsports." The Russell Racing School Mechanics Training Program is located a Sears Point Raceway. Now in its 18th year, it is the only course in the world dedicated to training racecar mechanics for positions with top teams in motorsports. The curriculum is divided into four sections: car preparation, fabrication and garage work, competitive driving, and formal classroom training. The program graduates up to 30 highly skilled individuals annually. Graduates of the Russell Mechanics Training Program now work for teams like All American Racers, Tasman Motorsports, Team Mears, Lynx Racing and others.
