Bobby Wilson heads to the final round at Road America
ELKHART LAKE, WI. -- (August 15, 2004) After a weekend off in the Cooper Tire Championship Series schedule, Bobby Wilson (Citrus Systems / Greens-Keeper / RW Racing / #3) and his Cape Motorsports squad will get back into race trim this coming weekend at the 4.04 mile Road America race course in hopes to secure the 2004 Zetec championship. The Minneapolis, MN resident already has three wins on the season as he looks to be victorious at the legendary circuit.
Completing a test this past weekend at Road America, Wilson is prepped and ready to do battle for the championship. "We had a great test here during yesterday's SCCA event," stated Wilson from the track. "We worked on a lot of things and even with old tires, we were very close to last years times. I am very confident heading into the weekend's competition." Looking to move up the motorsports ladder, the 2003 Shifter Kart Illustrated Driver of the Year will look to pilot his red Citrus Systems Greens Keeper RW Racing Van Diemen towards victory.
Wilson, who has had consistent race finishes all year, sits second in the Cooper Tire Championship Series trailing his closest rival by 10 points. Though there are five competitors that can mathematically win the series title, Wilson is considered to be one of the favorites.
Wilson will hit the tack on Thursday for the promoter's test day with official practice sessions commencing Friday morning. Wilson will look to take the checkers on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon in his run for the championship.
