-Elkhart Lake, WI- F2000 Championship Series title hopeful Cole Morgan had the proverbial roller coaster of a weekend when the series, made it's annual stop to the 4.0 mile Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, WI. August 6-8. Morgan was rewarded with, fourth and tenth place finishes when the dust settled on rounds 11 & 12.

Friday practice and first round qualifying, Cole experienced several hiccups, relegating him to the middle of the pack, for the first time this season. Morgan subsequently, qualified his Silicon Salvage/RANGER UP Van Diemen ninth in first race qualifying.

Race one, Morgan showed the form that he has become known by in two-litre cars advancing to fifth within the first few laps. As Morgan made his way to the front, he experienced a mechanical issue. "Race 1 was going great. I was up to P5 in 2 laps, and then the right rear camber bolts backed out and from that point, I just held on. It was really sketchy," commented Morgan.

Race two, Morgan qualified his machine third. At the drop of the green, Morgan wasted little time making quick work to the front. From that point, featured arguably one of the best junior open wheel battles in recent memory. Morgan battled Daniel Erickson and Jonathan Scarallo for eight laps until he was taken out of contention for the win, in a racing incident.

"Race 2 was insane. Just absolute insanity for the first 8 laps. Drafting back and forth, it was so much fun. Going into Turn 5 I saw Livengood on my left, and gave him the inside. The next thing I know I was spinning. I went through there with Scarallo side by side, so it can be done. I don't really know what happened, but it ruined my chance at a win," Morgan said.

Morgan now readies for the season finale at Mid-Ohio Sept 3-5.
