FAIRFIELD, N.J. (November 20, 2000)- U.S. F2000 National Championship driver Aaron Justus has been nominated as an At Large candidate for the 2000 Auto Racing All-America Team by the American Auto Racing Writers & Broadcasters Association (AARWBA).

Justus achieved his first ever AARWBA nomination after capturing the 2000 Drivers' Championship and "Road To Indy" Oval Crown Championship.

Justus, driving the No. 32 Forsythe Indeck/Torco Van Diemen Ford, had a very impressive season in 2000. Justus won a series-leading five races, had nine podium finishes and captured eight pole positions, tying the single-season record. In addition, Justus became the first driver in series history to capture all thee poles and to sweep the Oval Crown Championship. In the 13-round championship, Justus collected $41,200 in prize money and recorded 293 points, the third highest total ever.

Justus is the third U.S. F2000 National Championship driver to recieve an AARWBA nomination. The 1998 and 1999 drivers' champions, David Besnard and Dan Wheldon were nominated. Besnard was a First Team selection in 1998, while Wheldon was a Second Team selection last year. The AARWBA All-America Team annually recognizes the top 12 drivers in North American motorsports. The team is split into six catergories - Open Wheel Racing, Road Racing, Short Track, Stock Car Racing, Drag Racing and At Large. Votes are collected from the AARWBA membership to determine first team, second team, third team, fourth team and honorable mention (those receiving at least five percent of the vote) selections. The leading vote getter recieves the Jerry Titus Award as the All-America Team's driver of the year.
