Rounds Five & Six
Road & Track U.S. Sports Car Invitational
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Monterey, Calif.
Green Flags:
Formula Ford Zetec Championship
Round 5 Saturday, May 1, 2004, 4:10 p.m. (PT)
Round 6 Sunday, May 2, 2004, 4:15 p.m. (PT)
BATTLE FOR CHAMPIONSHIP HEATING UP
With two wins at Road Atlanta, Bobby Wilson takes over the Zetec
Championship points lead. Hot on his tail is Jason Bowles, who has finished
on the podium in every race thus far and Andrew Prendeville, who won at
Sebring and finished second at both rounds at Road Atlanta.
LAGUNA SECA EXPERIENCE
Returning to the North California track for the first time since 1993, very
few drivers have experience with the demanding 2.238-mile road course. Of
the points leaders only Jason Bowles and Ron White have limited experience
at Laguna Seca.
REIGNING CHAMPIONS RETURN
The reigning champions PR1 Motorsports makes their 2004 debut at Laguna
Seca. Contest only the West Coast races, the Fresno based team will run
three rookie drivers.
FORMER STAR DOES ONE OFF
Ian Lacy, who last raced in the Zetec Championship in 2002, will contest the
Laguna Seca doubleheader with JDC Motorsports. Lacy was Zetec Championship
runner-up in 2000 with two wins.
