Andy Brumbaugh qualified eighth for tomorrow's race. It was a tough battle - only 2 tenths separates second through eighth. Brumbaugh said: "I made a small mistake which cost us the front row. It is unfortunate because the car had it in it to be on the front row. It's okay, though, because we start up front and I know we have the car for the race." The EMX/Van Diemen #86 car was quick for most of the session. Brumbaugh tried to brake very deep at the end of the long straight and ended up in the gravel trap.

Team owner/engineer Ian Willis said: "We just got caught out of sequence with the black flags and were not able to get any clean laps. Our times at the beginning of the session were top 3, and were starting to come back down after the second black flag. The track conditions were changing during the session and we just ran out of time."
