NA-F2000: Mid-Ohio Preview

MID-OHIO IS PIVOTAL IN '99 F2000 TITLE CHASE

This weekend's United States Formula 2000 National Championship round at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio is expected to be pivotal for those drivers with title aspirations. Canadian Marc-Antoine Camirand leads Englishman Dan Wheldon by just 22 points with 32 available at the 2.25-mile circuit. Friday's timetable of events as part of the "Miller Lite 200" weekend include practice from 8:45-9:15 am and qualifying sessions from 4:45-5:15 pm and 5:30-6 pm. Saturday's warmups sessions are from 8-8:15 and 8:25-8:40 am and the 22-lap feature race gets the green flag at 3:45 pm. Camirand has already posted victories at Phoenix, Ariz., Mosport, Canada and on August 1 in the most recent series event at Trois Rivieres, Canada. Wheldon won races at Charlotte, N.C. and Mosport, Atlanta, Ga., but also won on Mid-Ohio's road course in June. Saturday's race is the 11th of 14 in the 1999 series.
