Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship Tuesday test notes at Mid-Ohio
- The second day of testing for The Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship at Mid-Ohio, began under clear and sunny skies, with a slight breeze.
- Joining the test on Tuesday was No. 97 Hodges, No. 28 R. Pecorari and No. 9 Mike Andersen in a American Continental Class car.
- No. 28 was driving a race car for the first-ever time.
- In the morning session, No. 2 Aschenbach, No. 59 Bass and No. 86 Brumbaugh ran no wings, while working car balance.
- Early in the session, No. 97 went off-course into the gravel trap, bringing out the red.
- The morning session was briefly halted numerous times for cars off-course, with no damage of note.
- In the afternoon, as cars and teams worked on various setups, the times steadily improved.
- As in the morning session, the afternoon session featured numerous stoppages for cars stuck off-course.
- Late in the day, several drivers reported the track being slick.
- No. 25 A. Pecorari contested the entire test with Andersen Walko Racing, after previously racing with J&J Racing in Rounds One and Two of the Zetec Championship.
- In addition to the F2000 cars testing, the Formula SCCA completed numerous laps over the two days. Several drivers, including FormulaCar Magazine test driver Marc Miller and two-time SCCA Formula Continental Champion Mike Andersen had a chance to get behind the wheel. All the drivers were pleased with the general handling of the car and the impressive torque exiting the corners.
- The Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship returns to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, June 26, for a promoters test day, in preparation for Rounds Five & Six, June 28-29.
- The next Rounds of the 2003 schedule is May 23-24, at Lime Rock Park.
