Rémy Audette Wraps Up his Formula 2000 Season With a Podium and a "Top 6"

Mid-Ohio (Ohio), September 5, 2010.- Quebec driver Rémy Audette competed this weekend in the last double-header of the American Formula 2000 championship season. These two races, contested at the Mid-Ohio track, enabled the Audette Racing driver to bring his Dimensions Doors Van Diemen onto the podium once again (second place finish on Saturday) as well as a sixth place finish on Sunday.

Having not contested the entire F2000 championship this year, Rémy Audette entered the two Mid-Ohio races with the plan of finishing his season on a high note. During the practice session on Thursday, he finished with the third fastest time before experiencing a more difficult time the following day. " Thursday went really well and I was starting to get into the rhythm after not having driven an F2000 car in several months. Unfortunately, we were a little off with the set-up and although it wasn't anything major, I lost a couple of positions " explains Rémy.

Saturday was much more positive and the Audette Racing driver qualified fourth. " We went back to the 2009 settings and the car was handling a lot better. I was able to get in one rally fast lap towards the very end of the session, which allowed me to qualify fourth ". In the race, Rémy was always amongst the leaders : " I moved up two spots during the first lap but the gaps quickly got fairly big. There wasn't much I could do to catch the leader. And since I had a good lead over third place, I just maintained my spot " mentions Rémy Audette. " this podium finish was pretty satisfying and a good rewards for the entire team " he adds.

On Sunday, he started the final round of the season in fifth place before crossing the finish line in sixth. " I was in fourth spot for a long time and I even thought that I would be able to battle for the podium but the race was halted and once it restarted, I had lost my rhythm, costing me two places on the last laps. I think that with a bit more time in F2000 this year, I might have been able to hold my position until the finish, but overall it's a good result and I'm proud of my season in general, finishing all my races and making it onto the podium on four of the six occasions. " concludes Rémy.

Rémy Audette's Formula 2000 season tally is as such : 6 races contested, all finished in the "Top 6", the highlight of which was a win at Mosport last May. In addition, he earned a podium finish at each track he competed at this year. Brazilian Victor Carbone claims the 2010 title.

Next stop : Mirabel !

The Audette Racing team won't have much time to savour Rémy's impressive F2000 season results this week as they prepare for the last Canadian Touring Car Championship round. This time it will be Mathieu Audette, Rémy's older brother, who will take to the track at the wheel of his Dimensions Doors Acura RSX in hopes of one last outstanding performance. " I hope that the series officials will react and impose restrictions on the cars that were setting lap times 1 second faster than everyone else at Mosport at the end of August " indicates Mathieu. "We are currently third in the championship and it'll probably finish that way but with two races left, anything can happen and we'll try to finish first or second ! " he adds. "Sundown Weekend" will host the two Canadian Touring Car Championship races at the ICAR complex in Mirabel on Saturday, September 11th at 1:45 pm and the season's grand finale on Sunday, September 12th at 1pm.

This season, the Audette Racing Team is entering Mathieu Audette in the Canadian Touring Car Championship and his brother Rémy Audette in a partial open wheel program consisting of Formula Tour 1600 and the American Formula 2000 series. The team benefits from the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Acura Plus Blainville, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.
