Caracas, August.22.2007. Ricardo Vassmer, the young Venezuelan driver sponsored by PDVSA, CITGO, ZOOM and Meridiano TV, took part of the last two 2007 US F2000 Championship Series events, Race 11 and 12, last weekend at Lime Rock, CT, USA.

Qualifying was scheduled for 2 different sessions for race one. After a good practice time (4.th), Ricardo had hard time to keep up at the first qualifying session, and finished eight. He improved during the second session, which overall was slower than the first session. After Mc Donough's accident in the pre race one warm up, Ricardo started 6 on the outside of raw 3.

Ricardo got himself prepared to hold the outside line trough the long turn one corner, and take advantage of this line which works fine at Lime Rock. In fact, after the green flag was shown, Ricardo stuck to the plan and he had a good run on Mike Andersen who started fourth on the grid, and was taking the inside line. The party got spoiled as Van Sicklen, who started eight, braked late and crashed into Mansur (third) who could not avoid to take out Kniffin (second). Ricardo got hit by Mansur's rear wing which got airborne, followed by Van Sicklen's car. The whole incident took eight cars out of race one, which was won by Cole Morgan, and second Mike Andersen. Qualifying for race two, was determined by the fastest lap time of race one. As Ricardo only raced for 12 seconds, his fastest lap was the warm up lap of race 1, and subsequently he started 31 in race two. Over the next 25 laps, including 3 full course yellows, Ricardo recovered 22 positions, overtaking under racing conditions 21 cars and finishing ninth, in order to finish fifth in the 2007 US F2000 Championship Series. Cole Morgan won also race two, and clipped the 2007 championship.

Ricardo commented: "Andersen Racing again gave me a great car. We had a podium finish in sight for race one, but there was no room to avoid the turn one carnage. Race two was pure fun, as I tried to overtake as much cars as I could on this narrow high speed track. The qualifying system for this race two worked against us, as I could not complete one single lap in race one. My team worked hard to get the car back on track for race two, however it would have been difficult to get on the podium under this conditions. The Championship was great, and the US F2000 Championship Series has become quite crowded, with many talented and highly competitive drivers. I can only thank my team, my coach, and my engineer and mechanics for this great season"
