Championship yet to be decided as Bomarito wins at Road Atlanta.

BRASELTON, GA. (October 16, 2003) -Jonathan Bomarito, of Monterey, Calif., won Round Eleven of the 2003 Formula Ford Zetec Championship, part of the Cooper Tires Championship Series at Road Atlanta. Completing the top-three was Charlie Kimball, of Camarillo, Calif. and Andy Brumbaugh, of Gaithersburg, S.C. Chris Dona, of Sandown, N.H., won the American Continental Championship class, clinching the 2003 championship. Under a sunny sky, Barber led the 25-car field to the green flag. Coming down the hill to the start/finish, Bomarito and Kimball both got a great jump, passing Barber going into turn one. While Kimball and Barber battled for position, Bomarito steadily began to pull away. With Barber in position to retake second place, a full-course caution was displayed for a car off-course, bunching the field back together. On the restart, Bomarito, in the No. 23 Valley Financial PR1 Motorsports Van Diemen Ford, held-off a hard charging Kimball. As the lap progressed, both Barber and Brumbaugh got a run on Kimball and passed for position. Showing great determination, Kimball, driving the No. 91 Rentvillas.com PR1 Motorsports Van Diemen Ford, moved into third place on the following lap. As second through fourth battled for position, Bomarito steadily built his lead, posting the fastest laps of the race. After swapping the position numerous times, Brumbaugh and Kimball closed on Barber, in the No. 3 Cooper Zeon Cape Motorsports Van Diemen Ford. On the penultimate lap, Kimball retook third place, holding the position to the finish. At the checkered flag, Bomarito had captured his fourth win of 2003 by 6.397 seconds, ahead of Barber. Following the race, Barber was disqualified for violating rule 6.22 I.C., moving Kimball to second place and Brumbaugh, in the No. 86 Andy LLC/Corby Concepts Cape Motorsports Van Diemen Ford, to third. With the win and the disqualification, Barber now leads Bomarito in the Championship 237-235, heading into the season-finale on Friday.

"I'm totally excited to win," said Bomarito, who has now won three consecutive races. "It couldn't have gone any better. I've never been in a position, where one race determines the championship, but it's exciting."

"I didn't have enough laps to catch Westley [Barber]," said Kimball, prior to Barber being disqualified. "The car worked really good as the race progressed. Hopefully tomorrow I can win and help Jonathan and PR1 win the championships."

"The race was great," said Dona, who led all but one lap in the ACC class.

"At the start of the season, I never expected I'd here talking about winning the championship. The plan was to just get some experience, but I started winning races. I'd love to get in a Zetec car next year."

Completing the top-five was Adam Pecorari, of Ashton, Pa., in the No. 28 SAI/Earls Indy/Lucky Design/Arai Van Diemen Ford and James Gue, of Alpheretta, Ga., in the No. 10 Essex Racing GTP Motorsports Van Diemen Ford.
