KROHN WINS IN F2000 CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES DEBUT
Norwegian rookie leads series newcomers Baker and Miller to checkered flag at VIR

ALTON, VA. (April 19, 2008) - Anders Krohn commenced both his North American racing career and 2008 F2000 Championship Series campaign in perfect fashion on Saturday (April 19th), taking the win in Round One at Virginia International Raceway. Joining the Andersen Racing driver in the victory celebrations were Andersen Racing's Jonny Baker and JDC MotorSports' Chris Miller.

After ideal warm and sunny conditions earlier in the day, the 37-car field rolled on-course under overcast skies late Saturday afternoon. Baker, having posted the fastest time in the morning qualifying session started the race in P1, with his teammate Krohn alongside on the front-row. As expected, upon getting the green flag, the F2000 competitors immediately went three and four wide in the charge down to turn one. While leaders successfully negotiated the right-handed turn, mid-pack, contact occurred, sending several cars off-course. With Krohn having passed Baker for the lead, followed closely by Miller, ZSports Midwest's Noah Bystrom and Audette Racing's Remy Audette, the yellow flags soon waved around the picturesque road course.

Following two laps behind the safety car, the race resumed with Krohn holding off the challenges of Baker. Behind the lead duo, Caldwell Racing's Bobby Caldwell enjoyed the best launch, slotting into third place, ahead of Miller, Audette and Brian Graham Racing's Kyle Marcelli.

Attacking the 3.270-mile road course, within two laps multi-car gaps appeared between first, second and third. Over the course of the next several laps, the best battle for position among the front-runners featured third through fifth running in close formation, not far ahead of St. Clair Motorsports' Matthew Inge, Bystrom and leading Master's driver Tim Minor, in a Ski Motorsports entry. The order in both groups shuffled repeatedly, with Caldwell slowly following down the order.

Entering the closing stages of the 11-lap, the top-five was Krohn, Baker, Miller, Audette and Marcelli. Running unchanged to the checkered flag, Krohn captured the win in first-ever F2000 Championship Series start. Fellow series newcomer Baker and Miller joined the Norwegian race winner on the podium, leading Canadians Audette and Marcelli to the stripe. Minor, finishing seventh overall, was the leading GTP Racing Components Master's driver at the conclusion of the race, while St. Clair Motorsports' Mark Defer improved the most positions, 19, provisional leading the G. JEZARIAN Pass Master Award at VIR.

The F2000 Championship Series season-opening doubleheader at VIR continues Sunday (April 20th), with a morning qualifying session, which will set the grid for Round Two, set to get underway later in the day. Live news, notes and results from the track will be available in the official EFCN Trackside Live discussion thread, while reports will be available on eFormulaCarNews.com in the news section.
