KROHN GOES FLAG-TO-FLAG IN ROUND FIVE OF F2000 CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Norwegian rookie leads fellow freshman Marcelli and Miller to the checkered flag at Watkins Glen

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (June 14, 2008) -- Norwegian Anders Krohn extended his point lead in the F2000 Championship Series Presented by Hoosier Racing on Saturday (June 14), scoring the victory in Round Five at the historic Watkins Glen International road course. Joining the Andersen Racing standout in the podium celebrations were Brian Graham Racing's Kyle Marcelli and JDC MotorSports' Chris Miller.

Mere hours after a 25-minute qualifying session set the grid for race one of the doubleheader, the F2000 Championship Series drivers returned to their cockpits at Watkins Glen under overcast skies and threat of rain. Krohn, having topped the speed charts in every session thus far, lined up P1 for the 12-lap race, with fellow rookie Marcelli starting alongside on the front-row. Fanning out three and four-wide at the waving of the green flag, Krohn held the inside line into turn, leading Marcelli and Miller up through the high-speed Esses. Exiting the 'Bus Stop', the order up front was altered with Andersen Racing's Doug Prendeville slotting into third, just ahead of CraigAutoSales.com Racing's Craig Clawson, who was being chased by Miller. With the lead duo of Krohn and Marcelli attacking the course, multi-car gaps quickly appeared among the top-three. The racing action was soon halted, however, when VS Racing's Julia Dawson struck one of the tire barriers lining the course.

After several laps running behind the safety car, the race resumed on lap seven. While the accordion effect of a slow restart pace caught numerous drivers by surprise, Krohn managed to hold off the advances of Marcelli to maintain the top spot exiting turn one. Behind the lead duo, St. Clair Motorsports' Matthew Inge, Miller, Clawson and Prendeville all diced for third place. Routinely running side-by-side around the high-speed 3.4-mile road course, Miller eventually emerged out front of the pack.

The battle for position continued behind the series rookie, however, with Clawson, Inge and Prendeville running nose-to-tail. Out front, Krohn ran mistake free laps, holding a multi-car advantage over Marcelli, who in turn was well ahead of Miller. When the checkered flag waved, Krohn had scored his fourth F2000 Championship Series win in five races, extending his championship lead. Rebounding from a difficult event at Road Atlanta, Marcelli finished second in Round Five, earning his first career podium finish. Miller completed the top-three, leading Clawson and Inge to the start/finish. Following post-race inspection, Clawson was disqualified for a technical violation and, as a result, Prendeville was promoted to fifth, while R-Sport's Mike Mazziotti earned the Masters class honors, finishing sixth overall.

The F2000 Championship Series Presented by Hoosier Racing Tire event at Watkins Glen International continues Sunday (June 15), with a morning qualifying session and Round Six later in the afternoon.
