McIntyre is ready for action!

Banbury, UK, Thursday 27th June 2002: 31 year old Noel McIntyre from Mullingar, County Westmeath, lines up for Sunday's Irish Superprix at Mondello Park, ready to take on all-comers. Noel, driving a 1995 Reynard in striking Irish green livery, faces stiff competition from an international line-up of racing drivers including South African Earl Goddard, Dutchman Klaas Zwart and current leader of the NDS EuroBOSS Series Phil Andrews from Birmingham, driving a V8 Ascari Judd. Phil has won the last two rounds and is aiming to make it three-in-a-row this weekend.

With 18 cars from the world of F1, F3000 and Indy Car lining up for the start of the sixth Irish Superprix, this exciting single seater race boasts no less than twelve cars with an F1 history, the names of Tyrrell, Benetton, Footwork, Minardi and Reynard adding spice and nostalgia to a Series considered the fastest in Europe. Cars from NDS EuroBOSS currently hold 15 outright lap records on European race circuits and there is every possibility that the Mondello lap record will be blown away on Sunday afternoon.

Noel McIntyre, Driver, Westmeath Motor Group:

"I had a chance to get out on the track early this week and get in some testing. The car feels great and works well around the twists and turns of Mondello Park. This race is on home soil for me and I am hoping to push my V8 Reynard to a strong finish, maybe I'll enjoy the luck of the Irish. Hopefully we will have good weather and everyone will enjoy the rare spectacle of seeing such powerful racing machines battling it out on Irish soil."

Phil Andrews, Driver, Team Ascari:

"I have never been to Mondello Park before and my number one priority is to get out on track on Saturday during the practice sessions and learn the circuit. This will be the first time in seven years that I will have raced at a new circuit and I am relishing the challenge. Mondello Park is a very technical circuit and we will be changing the set-up on the car to cope with the tight turns. My main opposition for the top spot will be from my team mate Klaas Zwart and Earl Goddard who has raced at Mondello before and is very quick in his Benetton Ford HB V8. Also, local boy Noel McIntyre knows the track well and will be looking for a good result on his home circuit."

NDS EuroBOSS is the feature event at this action-packed weekend of racing, which also includes a pitwalk where visitors get the rare opportunity to get within touching distance of some of the most famous cars from recent motor racing history. Over the weekend, spectators will be treated to demonstration laps by the 1995 screaming V12 Ferrari, formerly driven by Jean Alesi. On Saturday three test sessions will entertain the public, qualifying takes place at 11:00am on Sunday and the 6th Irish Superprix powers-off at 3:30pm.
