GERBI SIGNS IN US BARBER MAZDA SERIES
SMI Sport Management and Julien Gerbi are proud to annonce the signature of the french racing driver in an American championship.
During the 2007 season, the driver from Nice will race in the 'Barber Mazda Series'. Created in 1976, the Barber Series helped a numerous amount of drivers to succeed in the highest level of motorsport, like in IRL, Champ Car and Formula One. Juan Pablo Montoya and Scott Speed are now famous in Europe, while Marco Andretti, Danica Patrick or AJ. Allmendinger are still shining on the American ovals.
Thanks to the financial support of the fashion creator Freesoul and the organism Gryphon OEB, and thanks to SMI Sport Management participation, Julien will be able to show his drivers skills on famous tracks like Sebring, Cleveland or Road America.
Julien Gerbi: ''Racing in the US has always been one of my ambition. I think that with talent and daring, it is a place where building a strong career is possible. Roberto Moreno, who has been THE person who transmitted me the racing virus, realised an excellent career there. Since then, I had the opportunity to race in numerous countries, but I was patiently expecting to follow in his footsteps. I had to wait during the winter in order to know if this opportunity was able to come true, and I want to thank all the people who, through their work and their trust, made this project happen. Now, let's go racing...''
Barbaro Levi, SMI Sport Management CEO: ''I am happy and proud of the way Julien's career goes. The support from Freesoul is a great opportunity for him, and we are currently working on the presence of new partners."
Julien's first appointment with American motorsport will be held next week in Sebring, in opening of the 12 hours ALMS race.
