RONDET LEAPS 10 SPOTS, TAKES BARBER DODGE POLE

LIME ROCK, Conn. (May 23, from Rick Roso) - Nicolas Rondet of Brazil today went nearly 8/10s of a second faster than yesterday to snatch the pole position away from Shane Donley in qualifying for Monday's Barber Dodge Pro Series race at Lime Rock Park, round two of the $1.1M 1998 championship. Donley was also quicker today than yesterday, but could not hold onto pole and will start second. Rino Mastronardi, the defending race winner who only rejoined the series yesterday, will start third. Round one winner Todd Snyder could not correct a stubborn oversteer condition and is gridded sixth. The first 20 drivers are covered by one second.

Starting order following Barber Dodge final qualifying at Lime Rock Park. Qualifying position, driver, hometown or country, lap time and average miles per hour around 1.54-mile, 8-turn road course. All cars identical Reynard Dodge V6, open-wheel, single-seat race cars.
