STATE-OF-THE-ART PROTOYPE WILL BE ON TRACK AT MID-OHIO Unveiling of the New REYNARD DODGE Will Be Saturday, August 9

LAKEVILLE, Conn. (July 8) - The car that could revolutionize open-wheel racing's farm systems will be announced to the press at the Miller 200 CART Indy car event (Aug. 8-9-10). Reynard Racing Cars, Ltd., one of the world's leaders in the design and construction of formula cars "including Jimmy Vasser's 1996 CART championship-winning Reynard Honda" will, on Saturday afternoon, officially unveil the all-new Reynard Dodge carbon fiber monocoque chassis, the car to be used in the Barber Dodge Pro Series beginning with the 1998 season, in a press conference at the Mid-Ohio media center. Adrian Reynard will be on hand via telephone to make the announcement. The Reynard Dodge is state-of-the-art: a carbon fiber/aluminum honeycomb monocoque chassis, six speed sequential Hewland gearbox and a Pi data collection system are all part of a revolutionary design that involves a brand-new construction technique that eventually could mean affordable carbon fiber chassis in racing's training ground open-wheel series outside of Barber Dodge. The first drive of the new car is scheduled for July 16 at England's Mallory Park, followed by four days at Snetterton. Barber Dodge test driver and coach Rob Wilson will be behind the wheel. Prior to the August 9 announcement, Barber Dodge test driver/coach Robbie Buhl will also be shaking down the new Reynard Dodge during the Barber Dodge Pro Series practice and qualifying sessions on Friday and Saturday.
