(NAZARETH, Pa.) Apr. 8, 2000 -Severe thunderstorms which were predicted for the east coast rolled in just as the first of 24 cars took to track for single car-car qualifying for round three of the Barber Dodge Pro Series. Due to the lateness of the hour, the session was aborted. Thus the combined times of practice session 1 and 2 were used to determine the grid for Sunday's race which takes place immediately following the CART FedEx Bosch Spark Plus Grand Prix. No point will be awarded for pole as no official qualifying session took place.

Sepp Koster of The Netherlands will start first with Peter Boss of Naragansett, R.I. alongside. Ryan Hunter-Reay of Boca Raton, Fla. lines up on the inside of row two with Michael Valiante of Vancouver, B.C. on the outside of the second row.

"I was anticipating this would happen," Koster said. "I had a plan with my coach Todd Snyder (1998-99 Barber Dodge Pro Series runner-up) that we decided to go for a fast time every session and it worked on Friday and again this morning.

"I feel pretty at home on ovals," said Koster in spite of the fact that there are no oval races in Europe. "I have had some help from Arie Luyendyk, who is a country man of mine and he gave me some pretty good tips." Peter Boss, a pole winner at Mid-Ohio in 1999, was nearly on pole at the last round in Homestead, and was a bit frustrated at not getting the chance to improve on his time. Despite it all he was philosophical.

"I really wanted to have a chance to have a go at Sepp, but it didn't happen so we're going to go and have a run at it tomorrow. Sepp and I had a good real good race last year (at Nazareth) and we finished fourth (Boss) and fifth (Koster).

1999 Barber Dodge Pro Series "Big Scholarship" winner Ryan Hunter-Reay makes his best start of his young Pro Series career.

"I hope I get used to it (referring to being in the top-3)" Hunter-Reay offered. "I would have liked to have had another shot at it today, but I'm not disappointed where I am."
