A Year of Success for Sutton Motorsport Images

Sutton Motorsport Images has enjoyed a year of outstanding success with its associated drivers, winning seven major motorsport championships worldwide and a plethora of race victories, pole positions and fastest laps over the course of 2004.

Italian star Tonio Liuzzi, supported by Sutton Motorsport Images since 2001, stormed to the International Formula 3000 Championship, winning a record-breaking seven races in the ten race series. He has emerged during 2004 as one of the hottest talents currently outside of F1, a formulae he aims to break into in 2005.

Richard Lyons clinched the prestigious Formula Nippon Championship by the narrowest of margins in a closely fought contest; his two wins crucial in securing the title. The young Brit backed this up by winning the All-Japan GT Championship, becoming only the second person to win both titles in the same season, and the first non-Japanese driver to do so.

American Scott Speed secured both the 2004 Formula Renault Euroseries and the German Formula Renault Championship, amassing an impressive ten victories and eleven pole positions. His American compatriot Colin Fleming ably backed Speed up with the runner-up spot in the German Formula Renault Championship standings.

Sebastian Vettel has sprung to prominence by dominating the Formula BMW ADAC Championship. The young German racer, who only turned seventeen midway through the season, won an incredible eighteen out of the twenty races and claimed the title with over 120 more points than his nearest rival.

Hoping to emulate the feats of Vettel is fifteen year-old Stefano Coletti, who was the winner of the CIK-FIA ICA Junior Karting Championship and has earned himself a scholarship for the 2005 Formula BMW ADAC Championship.

Other notable achievements in 2004 for Sutton Motorsport Images associated drivers include Tiago Monteiro finishing second in the World Series by Nissan and Dutchman Robert Doornbos who capped his third position in the International Formula 3000 Championship by becoming the Jordan Third Driver for the final three rounds of the Formula One World Championship.

Sutton Motorsport Images continues to support young British talent and has enjoyed considerable success in the national championships. Adam Carroll took the British Formula Three Championship down to the wire, winning five races and finishing as series runner-up to highly rated Nelson Piquet Jnr.

Nineteen-year-old James Sutton impressed in his debut season of single-seater racing, finishing fifth in the British Formula BMW Championship, taking two victories and three pole positions. Stephen Shanly retained his Dunlop National Supersports Championship, and ITV Motorsport Presenter Lee McKenzie turned rally co-driver and was successful in her bid to complete the British Round of the World Rally Championship with fellow commentator Tony Jardine.

Keith Sutton, CEO Sutton Motorsport Images: "2004 has been another outstanding year for our associated drivers and I would like to congratulate all of them on their fantastic performances over the course of the season. We wish them every success for 2005 and beyond and look forward to our continued support for all our drivers."
