Timmy Megenbier wins American "Touring Car School"

Timmy Megenbier clinched the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup title thanks to an eleventh place finish at the rainy season finale at Road Atlanta. The 18-year old won 100,000 US Dollars in prize money. Championship rival Andy Lee finished sixth in the one-make cup's tenth race of the season and had to settle for second in the overall standings. Race victory on the spectacular track in the US state of Georgia went to local matador Mark Pombo. The 27-year old finished ahead of Andrew Cordeiro and pole sitter Juan Pablo Sierra Lendle.

Victories for Devin Robertson and Mathew Hodges

Devin Robertson and Mathew Hodges each won a race at Killarney during the eighth of nine Volkswagen Polo Cup South Africa race weekends. In the opening race Robertson beat Gennaro Bonafede and Kosie Weyers. Weyers made the podium in race two after taking second place again. Kieren Quarmby was third.

Jayde Kruger wins title

Jayde Kruger is unofficial Formula Volkswagen South Africa champion after taking a fifth and seventh position at the penultimate race weekend at Killarney. The 21-year cannot be caught at the season finale at Kyalami in mid October. Wesleigh Orr was the dominant driver in races 15 and 16 of the season. He took pole position for both race in qualifying, before taking two convincing wins. In race one the other podium positions were taken by Tasmin Pepper and Tschops Sipuka, in the second race Gordon Connelly took second place ahead of Pepper.

Swedish Touring Car Championship
Points for Frederik Ekblom

Volkswagen driver Frederik Ekblom scored a championship point in his Biogas-Scirocco after finishing eighth in the second race at Mantorp Park on the final weekend of the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC). Team mate Patrik Olsson, who had to compete with 30 kilograms of extra ballast after taking a podium finish at the previous race weekend at Knutstorp, narrowly missed scoring points in ninth place. In the first race Ekblom and Olsson finished tenth and eleventh. The two Swedes concluded the Biogas-Scirocco's debut year in twelfth and thirteenth overall.

Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship
Niclas Olsson narrowly misses title

Volkswagen driver Niclas Olsson started the Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship (JTCC) season finale at Mantorp Park with promising title chances. In the first race the Norseman finished in second, but after sliding off the track and scoring no points in race two the Golf driver had to be satisfied with sixth position overall. With a tally of 65 only four points separated him from winning the title in an extremely close fought field. Although brand mate Christoffer Graff did not finish in the points at Mantorp Park he finished the season seventh overall. Marcus Jansson was fifth twice at the season finale and finished eleventh in the standings.
