Series Set for Spectacular Indonesian Return

After the first four races of the 12-round 2007 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia held in Malaysia, this weekend the series moves to Indonesia's 3.965km Sentul Circuit where it made its spectacular debut last year.

Topping the Class A leaderboard is British sportscar ace Tim Sugden with GruppeM Racing. After four rounds, the Briton has just an eight point lead over Japan's Keita Sawa of Cref Motorsports, and Team Vertu entry Nigel Albon and SCC Racing's Christian Jones, son of former Formula 1 World Champion Alan, are both snapping at their heels.

Class A graduate this year Geoff Morgan of Australia is holding his own in the intensely- competitive field, currently 7th overall and a single point adrift of Team Hayashi's Dilantha Malagamuwa.

Expect a strong showing from Sunseeker Asia's Alain Li. The Hong Kong racer has been strong in qualifying this season, starting Round 3 from 3rd on the grid, but has so far not converted his pace into race results.

Back with the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia for the rest of the season is Hong Kong's Marchy Lee. Lee began the series with a one-off entry, and 997-based Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car debut, in the opening rounds in Malaysia and greatly impressed taking Class A pole position for Round 1, and two second-place finishes. His cause has been taken up by former racing driver Adrian Fu of Hong Kong, who will run Lee for the remainder of the season in his Racing for Charity campaign, with the Child's Dream Foundation as the beneficiary.

Making an impressive Porsche Carrera Cup Asia debut this year, Singaporean Mok Weng Sun tops the Class B championship table after four rounds, and is 8th on the overall leaderboard. The Team PCS Racing driver has a two point margin over Australian Peter Boylan. William "Chip" Connor is looking strong this season, although a DNF in Round 2 dented an otherwise impressive points tally, while fellow Hong Kong driver Philip Ma is just three points behind in 4th.

Mok's PCS Racing team mate and fellow series newcomer Tan Ian Mao will be back in action at the weekend, along with fellow Singaporean Melvin Choo. Sole Malaysian entry this year, and series returnee Tunku Hammam will definitely be looking for a change of fortune in Indonesia after one of the unluckiest starts to the season ever seen.

Brothers Siu Tit Lung and Siu Yuk Lung will sit out the next four rounds, rejoining when the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia arrives in Shanghai in October as a support race to the 2007 Formula 1 Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix.

Rounds 5 and 6 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will be run on Sunday July 22, with qualifying on Saturday.
