David Wall worked his way up the order from a starting position of 7th to finish in 4th place and just one tenth away from a podium finish in today's Carrera Cup Australia race.

Today's race was the third and final race of the 7th round of Carrera Cup Australia that was run in support of the L&H 500 at Phillip Island.

David got a good start in his Shannons Insurance backed Porsche, slotting into 7th place off the line.

He held his position as those in front of him were involved in incidents including some aggressive moves that saw a number of his competitors making contact with each other and others running off the track.

David kept his nose clean while others around him made errors and as a result, he was able to quickly work his way through the field.

"I was able to keep the car on the track and worked my way up to 4th place in the early laps," said David after the race.

"The car was even better in this race than it had been on Saturday; we made a few changes to the car's set up over night that helped.

"I was able to run at a better pace than Bryce Washington and Craig Baird ahead of me, but passing was very difficult given how dirty the track was off the racing line.

"Tyre performance is vital in this category and I was able to look after mine reasonably well so was able to really push Washington in the closing stages of the race.

"I got a great run off the last corner of the final lap and was pushing hard to pass him on the front straight, but I just missed out on the podium finish."

The finish was very close with the timing showing David was beaten to the podium by just one tenth of a second.

David finished the weekend in 6th overall and is sitting in 5th place in the championship.

The next round of Carrera Cup Australia will be run in support of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 on 9-12 October 2008.
