Nicolas Armindo wins the Final
Nicolas Armindo won the last round of the 2005 Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, pre- sented on the Hockenheim circuit. He finally finishes runner-up (with two wins), after his second year in the category.
Qualifyings : Pole
When he arrived in Hockenheim, Nicolas knew that he could still clinch the title, ahead of championship leader Christian Menzel. But the Frenchman had to win, and hope that Menzel that his rival would not finish better than 11th.
After he suffered a lack a grip in the free prac- tice session, he set the fastest time in the second one.
In qualifyings, he spun out at the beginning of the session. But then, with a new set of tires, he set the fastest lap. No one will beat him : he takes the pole position ahead of Lietz, Farnbacher and Menzel.
"I am very happy. I think I took my advan- tage in the first sector, where I was very performant..."
Race : Victory
Nicolas took another good start, and he passed the first corner in first position. Then he increased the gap between him and his rivals, with an almost 3 seconds advantage after three laps. Behind him, championship leader Christian Menzel followed the rythm, but can not catch the young frenchman.
After 18 laps, Nicolas clinch his second victory of the season, after he led for all the race.
"I took a very good start, as I use to do now... Then I pushed a lot on the tires, to put a big gap bet- ween me and the other drivers. Then I kept the control, sometimes I pushed harder to keep my advantage".
Second of the race, Christian Menzel clinch the 2005 title. But Nicolas can still be satisfied with his runner- up title in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, with two brillant wins, for his second year in the category.
"I am very happy with this runner-up title. Menzel's experience made the difference this year... From my point of view, I progressed a lot, with a very good time that learned me to work better on the car, especially with the tires... I will still be with Araxa Racing in 2006, see you next year ! "
