STRONG START FOR NASPETTI RETURN

Former Formula 1 driver Emanuele Naspetti's return to racing got off to a good start last weekend at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, with top five qualifying and race finishes.

The Italian racer's first weekend in the Carrera Cup Italia began with a fifth-place qualifying position, which was swiftly turned into a fourth-place finish in race one at the wheel of his Porsche 911.

Race two was less successful however, with Naspetti falling out of the race early on, following contact with another competitor in the first corner.

"It was a good debut," said Naspetti who races with team GDL Racing. "We definitely have pace but the car was very different from the last time I was behind the wheel, during testing.

"The weather conditions didn't help, it was raining heavily all weekend, but the key is to spend more time in the car. I look foward to the next race weekend."

The next rounds of the Carrera Cup Italia will take place in Adria on 09-10 May 2009.
