GLYNN GEDDIE RUES DOUBLE RETIREMENT AT CROFT

Glynn Geddie came away pointless from the Croft circuit in Yorkshire today after failing to finish in both of this afternoon's Porsche Carrera Cup GB races with mechanical problems.

After setting the pace by clinching Pro-Am1 pole for both races, the Scot looked set to dominate and get his ailing season back on track. However, after being tagged by Team Parker Racing team mate Tom Bradshaw into the first corner, Geddie was forced into a spin as the field charged through Clervaux, and to add insult to injury, was hit from behind by Motorbase Performance's Oliver Jackson.

With a rear brake disc snapped and rear suspension broken, all the 18 year-old from Aberdeen could do was limp back to the pits to retire the entry.

The rain came down just in time for Race 2 but Apex Tubulars-backed Geddie made a lightning start and took advantage of team mates Tim Bridgman and Tom Bradshaw running wide on the same corner on lap 1. With conditions worsening, Geddie briefly ran wide at the treacherous Tower Bend but showed the car who's boss and got away with it, retaining a strong 4th overall, and leading Pro-Am1.

His weekend of frustrations continued however when a plastic marker cone flicked up and pierced the vulnerable front radiator, leaving Geddie and his team with no option but to pit at the end of lap 4 and declare themselves out of the race.

Glynn Geddie: "This has to be our worst weekend of the season - it doesn't get much worse than two DNF's (did not finish) and I'm disappointed as it was all looking so good after scoring two poles in qualifying yesterday. Tom (Bradshaw) cut my nose off as we went into the first corner in Race 1 which just put me in a spin, but then Oliver Jackson caught my car as everyone was trying to get through and, unfortunately, the damage was terminal. In Race 2 we were in good shape in tricky conditions with P4 but a piece of debris damaged the radiator and that was that really.

"We're at the halfway point of the season now and are sitting in 4th in Pro-Am1. There's a 7 week gap before the next round at Snetterton but we'll be working hard and doing everything in our power to make sure the second half of the season is much stronger."

The Porsche Carrera Cup GB takes a sabbatical until the next two races at Snetterton on the 2nd August. Geddie however, will next be out in action at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium for the Britcar meeting in just under two weeks' time.
