FRUSTRATION AT OULTON PARK FOR GEDDIE

BRDC Rising Star Glynn Geddie suffered a character-building weekend at Oulton Park in the latest two races of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this weekend. Although it didn't go all his way at the Cheshire circuit, the Aberdeen-born ace still managed to score points in both races and made a strong display, minimalising the damage to his campaign.

Having qualified in a superb 3rd position, the drama all began as soon as the field left the grid, with Geddie getting great traction off the line and instantly diving to the inside of pole-sitter Tim Harvey, after getting in front of Michael Caine. With the field coming up to speed for the first corner Geddie and Caine just touched, forcing the latter into a spin and out of the race.

Running in a threatening P3 for the first part of the race behind Harvey and Team Parker Racing team mate Euan Hankey, Geddie was applying pressure for 2nd but unfortunately dropped back to 4th behind Stephen Jelley, having suffered damage in the incident off the line.

Staying and dicing with Jelley for the best part of the race, the Apex Tubulars-backed car could not find a way past and eventually settled for 4th, but Geddie was deducted 6 points from his championship total for the contact made with Caine.

In Race 2 Geddie got another lightning start from P5 and looked again to challenge for 2nd before the first corner but was edged into the pit wall by Hankey, who went into a spin across the pack.

Geddie really lost out from the contact and picked up steering damage but managed to cling onto 5th position as the race settled into its rhythm.

With 13 of the 18 laps completed, the Scot had closed the gap to Jonas Gelzinis and was set to make a move to claim P4 when the red flags were brought out to end the race prematurely after a massive crash involving Steve Parish and Alex Martin - thankfully both drivers were unharmed.

Glynn Geddie:
"It's been a pretty frustrating weekend to be honest as we qualified in a strong position for Race 1 and made two great starts off the line but couldn't turn them into podiums.

"I got good traction off the line in Race 1 and got in front of Michael (Caine) before edging off the dirty side of the track, but then we touched. When you're racing, these things are going to happen and I feel it was a racing incident so I'm disappointed with the penalty from the stewards but I have to accept it I guess.

"Then in Race 2 I made a good start and had the run to the first corner but was pushed against the wall which gave me handling problems throughout the race. We definitely could have taken 4th as I had been closing in on Gelzinis for a number of laps, then the red flags came out five laps early.

"It's not been the weekend we wanted as the pace is there. I guess we've just been a bit unlucky but, for sure, there's more to come from us which we hope to bring out at Croft."

Geddie now turns his attention to Croft, North Yorkshire where the Porsche Carrera Cup GB resumes in two weeks time.
