In 2010 Sam raced to wins in the Renault Clio Cup to take third place in the overall standings and take the Graduate Cup title. Having secured his success in the Renault Clio Cup Sam took the opportunity to make his debut in the British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch which saw him take a top ten finish.
Sam's 2010 efforts were not going unnoticed as he was awarded entry into the prestigious British Racing Drivers Club Rising Stars Programme seeing him join a hand-picked group of some of Britain's best up and coming young racing drivers. He was also one of six finalist who were competing for a place as a Porsche Scholarship winner for the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB. Unfortunately Sam was not awarded with this accolade but pleased nevertheless to have received the acknowledgement from Porsche for his 2010 achievements and be chosen as a finalist.
With a taste for the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Sam pursued a drive in the series and is delighted to be joining Team Parker Racing.
"It's obviously a huge step up from the Renault Clio Cup I've driven for the last two years; the driving style is completely different and the 'heel & toe' takes a bit of getting used to" says Sam of the series. "But, by the end of a day's testing at Donington Park I was lapping consistently quick and my best time was only 0.3s off Euan Hankey's qualifying time from 2010 which I was very happy with. To compete in the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB with a race-winning team such as Team Parker Racing is fantastic".
Stuart Parker, Team Principal at Team Parker Racing is equally looking forward to working with the Yorkshire youngster saying "We are very much looking forward to working with Sam in the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB. It is always fantastic when you get young and motivated drivers in the team as their enthusiasm helps to push the Team on. We will be looking to establish a good footing starting next month [February] so we can be ready, ahead of what is going to be a very hard fought series".
