CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF DENVER SPONSORS PIKES PEAK SPORTSCAR/SCCA WEEKEND
5 June, 1997
FOUNTAIN, Colo. -- The Children's Hospital of Denver will sponsor the combined SportsCar/SCCA weekend at the impressive new Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR) this fall. The event, September 26-27, is now called the Children's Hospital Grand Prix of Colorado.
The Children's Hospital Grand Prix of Colorado began in 1995 as part of an SCCA regional club racing weekend. Last year, the event raised $92,000 for the Children's Hospital Oncology Unit. This year, the proceeds from the related activities, as well as donations from event co-sponsors, will go to the Children's Hospital Cancer Center.
"We are happy to be associated with such a worthwhile effort," said Lex Dudas, PPIR's General Manager. "Children of all ages love motorsports, and it is great that the motorsports community can give something back to the children. "
"This is a perfect match for us," said Monte Wilson, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Children's Hospital Grand Prix of Colorado. "We anticipate a record-setting year in 1997, both for funds raised by the Children's Hospital Grand Prix of Colorado and for the inaugural year of motor racing at Pikes Peak International Raceway."
