Multiple South African Off Road Special Vehicle driver and co-driver champion Buks Carolin has joined the growing ranks of the Kopanong Hotel Superteam, which will now field five vehicles in the Absa Off Road Championship.

Carolin makes his Superteam debut on the Nissan Sugarbelt 400 on April 23 and 24 and will be joined by off road racing veteran Harry Roscoe in a Class S Raceco fitted with a BMW 540 V8 motor.

63-year old Roscoe has in recent years concentrated his efforts on sports car racing and returns to the off road racing scene after a seven year lay off.

"We are delighted to have Buks and Harry on board and have great expectations for the pair," said Kopanong Hotel Superteam supremo, Andre Botha. "Buks has a phenomenal track record and having an experienced driver, now turned co-driver, like Harry in the cockpit makes for a formidable combination."

"Having Buks and Harry on the team will no doubt put pressure on reigning Class S drivers champion Nic Goslar and Warren Bowie in the Kopanong Hotel Raceco but competition is a good thing and we expect some friendly rivalry to develop between the Class S team-mates," added Botha.

The Nissan Sugarbelt 400 will see the private battle between Carolin and former champion Richard Schilling resume with the loser donating R1 000,00 to Sunfield homes. After one race Schilling's wallet is R1 000,00 lighter and he and co-driver Ashley Thorn will be intent on putting a dent in Carolin's bank balance this weekend.

"I am delighted to be part of the Kopanong Hotel Superteam and equally delighted that Harry, who co-drove for me in my first national championship race in 1986, will be sharing the cockpit with me," said Carolin. "Harry drove single-seaters and had to drive and navigate at the same time so having someone with his unique experience alongside me will definitely give us the edge."

The Kopanong Hotel Superteam is hoping for podium finishes from John Weir-Smith and Geoff Minnitt (Class A Jimco), Buks and Harry, Nic and Warren, Class D debutants Chris Fick and Rob Knight (Land Rover) and Botha and Beans Heydenrych (Class F Chevrolet).
