ERC: Madeira start of day two notes

The 7th round of the European Rally Championships - The start of day 2 Thiry leads them into the second day

The second day of the Rali Vinho da Madeira began in overcast conditions and all of the top drivers appeared satisfied with the result of the first stage which saw European Championship leader Bruno Thiry, take a slender 0.1 sec lead over his main rival Miguel Campos.

Bruno Thiry - Peugeot 206 WRC

"It was nice to get a small psychological advantage from the first stage and I'm looking forward to today. We have customer tyres so I am a little afraid as to how they will wear."

Miguel Campos - Peugeot 206 WRC " Well...today the rally really starts...I have a good feeling about the car and apart from Thiry..I see Travaglia and Delecour as the drivers who could be pushing hard."

Henrik Lundgaard - Ford Focus WRC

"The suspension is a little hard but we will wait and see what happens on the first couple of stages before changing anything."

Manfred Stohl - Ford Focus WRC

"It may look like a sprint rally but the stages are very difficult so perhaps thats an over exageration. Its the second time I have been in Madeira...I was 5th here last year."

"I had a small problem with the turbo at yesterdays Super Special so we are changing it now."

"We had intercom problems on the first stage."

Ten stages await the teams on this second day and the first car is expected back in Parc Ferme at 1921 hrs.
