With 3 of the second days 8 stages completed, Bruno Thiry has increased his lead in the 38th Rallye Antibes-Azur to 32.1seconds over main rival Miguel Campos. The young Czech Champion Vaclav Pech is third, with Tim Van Parijs from Belgium 4th.
On Stage 5, the first of the day, Thiry continued his winning ways by recording his 5th straight stage win. He was 8.8secs. faster than Campos on the 13.63km long stage. Pech was 3rd with Richard Bartolini 4th in his Mitsubishi Evo.6, the best Gr.N car. Robert Butor from Hungary had mechanical problems with his Citroen Saxo on the stage and had to retire.
Stage 6, the 22.5km La Couillole, resulted in another win for Thiry. Campos was second, 3.7 secs behind, with Pech 3rd and Van Parijs 4th.
"The Rollercoaster", that's the name given to Stage7, the 13.97km between Valberg and Guillaumes. Campos scored his first stage win of the rally but only by the narrowest of margins 0.01 seconds. Thiry was second with Pech 3rd and Van Parijs in 4th place.
With Campos only managing to record a single stage win so far, Thiry must be very happy with his performance in this, his most important rally of the season so far.
