Orgy of turns awaits Franz Wittmann/Bernhard Ettel at the IRC-run at the Asturias in Spain

The stages are not as fast as expected, therefore the right set-up will be decisive

At today's shakedown, the testing of different tyres stood in the foreground for the Interwetten Racing Team

During the next two days Franz Wittmann/Bernhard Ettel will compete in their sixth run in this year's IRC season, the "Rally Principe de Asturias". After the recce, the two Interwetten Racing drivers subjected their Mitsubishi Evo IX, prepared by Stohl-Racing, to one last test under racing conditions at today's shakedown. At temperatures of about 30 degrees Celsius, the two Austrians completed three turns under sunny skies. Thereby the main focus was put on the testing of different tyres.

"Unfortunately organisatorial problems prevented us to complete more kilometres at the shakedown. We therefore constricted ourselves to test different tyres. As to the functionality of the car everything was all right. But I still see one problem at this rally. Apart from the much more powerful S2000 cars, our main opponents won't be the local Mitsubishis but rather the 1600 cars and the R3s from group A. These cars are not only light but also have a much better cornering ability. The special stages in the Asturias are twisting a lot. Thus the speed is not that high - and it will need a perfect set-up in order to get a positive result", explained Wittmann.
