McCarrick's Garage West Coast Navigation Trial preview

Mayo & District Motorsport Club host the third round of the McCarrick's Garage (Roscommon and Tubbercurry) West Coast Navigation Trial Championship in Claremorris, County Mayo on Saturday night / Sunday morning 16th / 17th December 2000 from 8 p.m.

Sanctioned by Motorsport Ireland, the Sports Governing body, this Night Navigation Trial provides a comprehensive test of map reading and orienteering for both driver and navigator. After vehicle inspection carried out by a team of scrutineers at event headquarters at the West Point, Brize, Claremorris, participants will then assemble to receive their route details. From 10 p.m. onwards the drivers and navigators head out the country to find the 27 selected time points over the 80 mile journey.

Although the event is held at night (in order to increase the challenge) the organisers ensure that there will be no breach of security to residents and property in the region. Indeed Mayo & District Motorsport Club regret any disturbance the passing of the event may cause.

As in previous years Claremorris has proven to be an ideal venue for this type of event and judging from the two rounds held to date in Cavan and Longford, a large entry is expected with competitors travelling from all over Ireland.
