Another DNF for Feghali in JWRC Rallye Deutschland.
After the car-breaking roads of Greece the FIA Junior World Rally Championship turned to asphalt for this fourth event in the six-round series. However, the 24 crews that started Rallye Deutschland quickly discovered that asphalt can be just as tricky as gravel when it has been rain-soaked for several days! Of the 24 JWRC starters four retired during the opening leg .
Mistral Racing driver Roger Feghali and his Italian co-driver Nicola Arena have not had an easy time of it , spinning on each of the first three stages - albeit in company with many other crews throughout the field! His recce time had been reduced while sorting out a problem with his entry visa for Germany and that has seriously affected his ability to adjust to a new event.
Roger Feghali and co-driver Nicola Arena were fortunate that Armin Schwarz's accident forced the cancellation of SS10. The Lebanese driver had suffered power steering failure on opening stage and was happy to learn that he was not going to be asked to contest 35.56kms of Panzerplatte. His lack of recce time again affected his efforts and he admitted to missing three junctions on SS13 but he lies tenth overall after leg - 2 .
A dramatic final day of the Rallye Deutschland proved significant throughout the entry. While several WRC contenders suffered, so did the FIA Junior World Rally Championship crews. Of the 13 drivers who completed second leg, only nine were left in the event at the finish.
Lebanese driver Roger Feghali and Italian co-driver Nicola Arena looked set for a comfortable finish but also ended the rally among the retirements. "We knew we couldn't catch the car in front and were fairly safe from the one behind so there was no reason to throw it all away chasing the impossible," he said. "Unfortunately our clutch failed with two stages to go and we had to retire."
Next event: The fourth round of the FIA Junior World Rally Championship will take place in San Remo, Italy (September 20-22). It will be the last of the four asphalt events in the six-round series before the crews take a break from the action and then regroup for November's final round in Britain. The Italian event features a mixture of stages; some tight and twisty in the hills above San Remo itself and other, more abrasive stages, further along the Liguria coast.

4 F Duval 11
5 N Caldani 10
