NASHUA MOBILE RACING EXTEND THEIR LEAD AFTER GOOD RESULT

Intensity, consistency and reliability - these were the vital factors for the Nashua Mobile Racing team when they completed the recent Ford Motorite Limpopo 400 off-road race, the sixth round of the Absa off-road Championship, finishing a superb second overall in a hotly contested Special Vehicle category.

The result allows Terence Marsh and Michael Whitehouse to extend their overall lead in the National Championship for Special Vehicles with two rounds of the championship remaining. The Nashua Mobile BAT Spec-1's performance was faultless during a rough and extremely tough off-road event, the first in the Polokwane area, a race that saw only 11 of the 29 Special Vehicle entries making it to the finish.

Dust was a huge factor during each 115km loop, which the competitors had to complete three times, and Marsh and Whitehouse used this natural element to their advantage from the start after qualifying third fastest on the Friday. The ever threatening team of Nick and Ryan Harper, who are currently second in the National Championship, began the day just two seconds behind Marsh and Whitehouse and remained hot on their heels throughout the race eventually finishing just six minutes behind them after seven hours of intense racing.

This result enabled Marsh and Whitehouse to extend their lead in the overall championship to 16 points with two rounds remaining, the tough Toyota Dealers 1000 to be held in the Mpumalanga area and the season ending Carnival City 400 to be held in Gauteng.

The next round of the Absa Off-road Championship, the Toyota Dealers 1000 held within the Lydenburg and Dullstroom area, takes place from the 12th to the 15th October 2005.
