Peugeot Total Silver Team SG completes its 85th race

The Portuguese Rally Championship enters its tarmac faze with the Vinho da Madeira Rally, which will take place on the 29, 30 and 31 of July, race which has a maximum point coefficient for the European Championship and where Peugeot Total Silver Team SG has had some excellent results in the latest years. Miguel Campos, winner of the last Edition (2003), has two more Podium finishes, since he was a Runner-up in 2001 and 2002, always at the wheals of the 206 WRC.

Nevertheless, the Team is aware that in normal conditions this victory will be very difficult to obtain this year, being that as it may, everything can happen and the main goal relies on winning the S1600 Class. Miguel Campos and Nuno Rodrigues da Silva have a vast number of enrolled contestants at the Madeira stake, but since he was last year's winner, he has a significantly larger responsibility.

The European Runner-up is raring to go, but the 170 tarmac test drive kilometres accomplished by the Peugeot Total Silver Team SG did at the North of Portugal, where extremely important to adjust the Peugeot 206 Super 1600 to the tarmac conditions. They equally served the Drivers purpose to experiment different car equilibrium solutions, capable of facing the Madeira Island Rally stages.

Founded in 1996, and with the Team's name suffering some evolutions due to Sponsor associations, the Peugeot Total Silver Team SG is disputing its ninth season, also its ninth participation at the Vinho da Madeira Rally. The stake, which represents the most important sporting event to take place at the "Pearl of the Atlantic", amounts to the 85th race for the Team, with a race career of 34 absolute victories (amongst which the 2001 and 2003 Madeira Rally), being that an excellent success percentage.

Carlos Barros, the Team Manager, commented: "We have been able to obtain very good results at the Vinho da Madeira Rally, specially in the last years with the 206 WRC, and it is our goal to maintain the rhythm and, if possible, to fight for a top spot."

The Driver, Miguel Campos, knows his way around the island roads and he is conscious that he will have to give his best: "In order to fight for a top spot we will have to take it up to the maximum, and have a fine tuned car that may be taken to the limits" stated the Driver.

"I believe that the Peugeot 206 is a competitive car in the Super 1600 Class, since it has proven to be fast on tarmac at some other countries where it races. The entire Team is motivated to help us fight for the victory, showing the same motivation as ever and been available to give its best" said Miguel Campos, which will accomplish his third season with Peugeot Total Silver Team SG and race his 30th rally for Peugeot, at Madeira
