Two Widget Rally Team Cars at Laughlin Int'l Rally
Perforce Software Will Be Featured on Both Cars

Laughlin, NV. The Widget Rally Team, in special arrangement with Phoenix Autosport of Colorado Springs, will be fielding two cars at the Laughlin International Rally, 8-11 Nov 2007. Brian Scott and guest codriver Michael Taylor will be racing together for the first time, while Widget codriver John Dillon will make the calls for Jason Waples, also a first time partnership. Both cars are Subarus and will prominently feature Perforce Software stickers, a long-time team sponsor. Scott Roofing will continue to be advertised on Brian Scott's machine, while Phoenix Autosport livery will adorn the Waples Subaru. The Laughlin rally, sanctioned by the National Auto Sport Association (NASA), is the final round of the United States Rally Championship series.

I'm excited to be racing with Jason at Laughlin," reported Dillon. "I've seen him race before and he's 'wicked fast' so I think we can do well together. He's the 2007 Colorado Hill Climb champion, so he definitely knows his way around twistie mountain roads."

Brian Scott had planned to skip Laughlin, but when his good friend Michael Taylor brought up the idea a month ago in Prescott, he thought, "Why not?" The two quickly put together a plan to make it happen. "My car is for sale, so I didn't think I'd race it any more this year," said Scott, "but a chance to run with Michael was too tempting to resist."

"It'll be good fun to race with Brian. We've talked about it for several years, but this is the first time we could actually make it happen," said Taylor. "I guess you can call me an 'honorary Widget' for the weekend."

The Laughlin International Rally uses many roads on the land of the Hualapai Intian Nation. Competition includes the famous Diamond Creek stages, where the competitors race from the top of the Grand Canyon to the bottom, then up to the top again.

This is the tenth annual Laughlin International Rally. Michael Taylor and John Dillon have done this event more times than any other competitor and Dillon is the only participant to have competed at Laughlin every year. "This is my favorite rally on the U.S. calendar," he declared. "There's something magical about racing into and out of the Grand Canyon, and out to the West Rim. There are plenty of challenges here each year, from weather to road conditions to scheduling, so it's a tough event. Some years, making it to the finish is just as important as winning!"

Waples should know about winning Laughlin: the 2006 winners were in a car built and supported by Jason's company Phoenix Autosport. "Todd and Ray Moberly showed that we know how to build winning cars," said the driver. "I'm hoping I can showcase my driving skills as well this year!"

Dillon had originally planned to drive, but switched back to codriving because he's locked in a tight battle for the Open 4WD class championship in the California Rally Series. "I'm only three points ahead my competition," he observed, "out of a total of 1000 points so far. This rally will definitely decide the championship!" He'll try again to get behind the wheel sometime in 2008.
