David Wall has continued his domination of the 2009 Australian GT Series winning the round at a cold and windy Phillip Island this weekend.
In the first of the Australian GT Series endurance races, the Phillip Island Classic, the round three of the Championship, David was determined to drive his number 38, PR Technology Racing Porsche Cup S to victory.
David achieved this by qualifying on pole and winning both races on his way to taking the round win.
Even though he was once again running with a number of significant restrictions on his Porsche in an effort to bring him back to the pack, David was able to bring his car home ahead of the pack.
This weekend one restriction had a greater impact because of tricky track conditions.
"We struggled a bit because the air restrictor was slowing the car dramatically when I drive into the wind," said David after the race.
"As is often the case at Phillip Island, the wind was playing havoc with the way the car was handling -- but it all worked out and we set a great time and qualified in pole position.
"Race one went really well and I was really pleased to pick up the race win.
"We had a small vibration develop in the car during the first race, but the team worked on the car overnight to ensure everything was perfect for the second race."
The team had used their best tyres in the first race and had to run older tyres in the second race, but even that could not stop David's dominance, with him bringing the car home in first position, topping off another perfect weekend.
"I could not be happier with how this weekend has gone," said David.
"My thanks go to my sponsors Payce, Mount Aqua and Shannons Insurance for their continued support.
"My thanks also go to my team, PR Technology Racing. They have put in a fantastic effort to work with the restrictions placed on us to give me a car capable of winning both races.
"Not only has it been great to pull out an even bigger lead in the championship, it has also been a fantastic opportunity to get some more mileage around the Phillip Island circuit.
"While my Porsche is a very different car to the V8 I will be running with Wilson Security Racing in the V8 Supercar endurance races later in the year, running in a longer race than the short, sprint races we have run earlier in the season is a useful experience."
David's next outing will be at Symmons Plains in his role as co-driver with the Wilson Security Racing V8 Supercar team. David will again be participating in the co-driver test session on the Friday of the round.
Before then you can catch all the action of this round of the Australian GT Series, on SBS 'Speedweek' at 1pm next Sunday, 24th May.
