(Lime Rock, CT) -- Compass360 Racing (C360R) today announced the addition of a Mustang Challenge effort to its stable, which will run alongside the team's championship-winning Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge program. Marv Weidner, who drove one of the team's Honda Civic Si's at Barber Motorsports Park earlier this year, has been signed to run most of the remainder of the Mustang Challenge season, including races at Lime Rock Park, Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio and New Jersey Motorsports Park.

"I'm really thrilled to add a Mustang Challenge program to our rapidly-expanding portfolio," commented Team Principal Karl Thomson. "I'm a big fan of the series, as it provides a perfect launching point for a driver wanting to move up to the pro ranks from club racing. The spec cars are very evenly matched, and the series offers a great deal of support, including carrying a comprehensive spares package which is available to all competitors. The first two seasons have featured a lot of great racing, and I think Marv is really going to enjoy going to wheel-to-wheel with the series' regulars."

Weidner will pilot the #33 LMI/Compass360 Racing entry, with Bob Lutz and John Eversley as Crew and Car Chief, respectively. The family connections to the team is very close, as both men's sons are paired in C360R's #75 Honda Civic Si, which competes in Grand-Am's Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. Zach Lutz and Ryan Eversley won the most recent round, at VIR, a few weeks ago, and currently sit fourth and fifth in the driver's standings.

"This is a great series and a great car and a great opportunity," enthused Weidner. "We expect to do well in a bunch of races this year and use this program to learn several of the major road tracks used by Grand-Am so that I'm ready to compete in the Continental Tire Championship in 2011." You can read details of the event on Weidner's blog at leapingtigerracing.blogspot.com

The Mustang Challenge event at Lime Rock begins with practice on May 28th, with qualifying and the race on Saturday the 29th.
